Dishwasher Detergents without Phosphates

My Review

I tried a 50/50 homemade combination of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda and 20-Mule Team Borax. The dishes came out filmy and spotted, and I had to hand-wash every single one to get the grit off (GRRR!).

I realized later that the problem might be the fact that I'm on well water, and I don't have a water softener. Regardless, I had to go back to using commercial dishwashing liquid, which I know is now made without phosphates, so I'm having the same filmy-spotty problem.

How clean is your glassware with this product?

Awful. Very spotted and grimy.

How much did this cost?

Cheap, but not worth the time I spent re-washing!

Would you call this a "green" solution?

Not really, since the re-washing operation used tons of water.

What brand/age of dishwasher do you use?

A 2007 Kenmore.

Can it clean heavily soiled or "baked-on" dirty dishes?

Hell no! Even clean glasses come out grimy with this "eco friendly" solution.

Would you recommend this to a friend?

No
