Guide Review - Green Earth Technologies Brake Dust Shield
Effectiveness:
You'll still notice brake dust on your wheels after using G.E.T. Brake Dust Shield, but the positives of this eco-friendly car care product easily outweigh the negatives.
As far as limiting brake dust corrosion goes, this product is great. Though Green Earth Technologies' product doesn't shield the wheel as well as we had hoped, we noticed that the dust was lessened, and spread much more evenly over the wheel. Not much of a consolation prize, until we realized that this even layer was easily wiped away.
Unfortunately, for those more interested in having the hose do their dirty work, these silver linings will leave them with a second letdown. While the accumulated dust wipes away easily, it won't be sprayed away quite as well. If you do decide to go with this product, do yourself a favor: save some water and break out a cloth instead.
Green Factor:
When it comes down to how eco-friendly this brake dust shield is, the answer is 'quite.' Truth be told, it's unlikely you'll find a brake dust shield any greener than Green Earth Technologies.
Produced entirely in the U.S., G.E.T. Brake Dust Shield doesn't pollute waste water, and it contains no hazardous components as defined by OSHA. This brake dust shield is so safe that contact with skin and eyes, or even ingestion will have no adverse effects. Additionally, Green Earth Technologies Brake Dust Shield ranks 'Ultimate Biodegradable' according to ASTM standards.
