Perhaps it was inevitable: Before New York City workers could even set up a rack for Gotham's new bike-sharing program, Citi Bikes, an $825 bicycle was stolen right out from under their noses.

That's life in the big city.


But everyone from thieves to Hizzoner Mayor Michael Bloomberg is watching how the city's bike-sharing program rolls out. Will it succeed, or will it go down the drain, like the Mayor's proposed ban on supersized soft drinks?
