Consider the mighty oceans -- vast, limitless, utterly impervious to human activity. Now think about how we're destroying them at a staggering rate of speed.
Some 90 percent of big fish -- tuna, sharks and halibut -- are gone. The U. S. government has declared disaster zones in 3 once-great fisheries that are now virtually empty -- and that's just in the past year.
Unless we stop overfishing and work toward creating sustainable fisheries, it's not just the oceans that are doomed -- it's us.
