Now It's Getting Personal

By , About.com GuideApril 16, 2012

Last month, I fretted that because temperatures in the northeastern United States were in the 50s in January, the 60s in February and the 70s in March, we might see temperatures over 100 degrees all summer long.

Today, April 16, it was 91 degrees at my house in upstate New York.

At this rate, even my "sky-is-falling" prediction would seem conservative. In March, for example, over 15,000 heat records in the United States were broken. Is this climate change in action, or should we all just continue to go about our daily lives as if nothing was happening?
