Everyone knows that raw meat should be handled with care, but scientists are now reporting that almost a quarter of supermarket meats are contaminated with the "superbug" MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). The germ is resistant to almost all antibiotics, and has been known to seriously sicken and kill people.
How did this happen? Aside from lax food handling and processing procedures, it appears that constantly dosing livestock with antibiotics is contributing to the rise of drug-resistant germs.
It's time to put an end to factory farming -- before it puts an end to us.
