Earth Hour 2009 Update: The Huge Turnoff

Tuesday March 17, 2009

What's a bigger turnoff - underarm hair so long you can paint with it, or someone clipping their toenails in the seat next to you?

That's a tough one, but Earth Hour's Public Service Announcements featuring Alanis Morissette and Janeane Garofalo make each scenario easy to visualize. And laugh at.

So why are these two celebrities engaging in such disgusting habits? To promote Earth Hour 2009! It may be less than two weeks away, but there's still time to get the word out.

The Latest on Earth Hour 2009:

  • On Saturday, March 28th at 8:30 p.m. hundreds of millions of people around the world will turn off their lights in the first global vote for action on climate change in history.
  • 1500 cities globally have committed to turning off their lights for Earth Hour.
  • 100 cities in the U.S. will do the same including: D.C., NYC, L.A., Las Vegas, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Dallas, Miami and Nashville.
  • Edward Norton, Kevin Bacon, Cate Blanchett, Coldplay, Jo Dee Messina, Big Kenny, Wynonna Judd, Keisha Knight Pulliam and other celebrities are committed to Earth Hour.

So who's your vote for? Planet Earth or Global Warming? Don't forget to flip that switch to tell the world!
