BBQ Tips for a Greener Memorial Day
Nothing says summer like the smell of barbeque, and there's no holiday that declares the season more than Memorial Day. There is always the 4th of July - but really, you'd have to have missed a few weeks worth of heat to see that as the start of summer, right?
As it stands, though, Memorial Day is designated for looking back and remembering the sacrifice so many have made for the country, but it's also a perfect occasion to get out and get grilling!
But with all the festivities you may have planned, there's no reason to forget about going green. Here are a few key tips to keep your BBQ a little greener with ease:
- Forget the plastic ware. (Because, really, throwing a few extra utensils in the dishwasher is a lot better than throwing them out.)
- Use a gas grill. (That creates a whole lot less waste than charcoal grills, and natural gas is, well, natural.)
- Crush those cans. (Be sure to keep your soda cans separate so they're easy to send of for recycling.)
- Organic meat tastes great! (Yeah, there is a bit of a price difference, but it's a holiday! If you don't want to spend extra on meats, at least go for organic fruits and veggies.)
