Greenlife: No Ice? No Hockey. (No Good.)

Tuesday May 20, 2008

A little multimedia never hurt anyone, right? Well, a little commercial that's encouraging the world to fight global warming never hurt anyone at least.

Interestingly enough, it seems that some hockey enthusiasts have a bit of a beef with the greener side of the NHL. Found on HFboards, a popular hockey forum, user The Korean made the following comment concerning the Greenlife promos: "I don't want to be educated about anything else when I am watching hockey." And he wasn't the most blunt by a longshot.

But even though there's a bit of hostility in the air, there are plenty others on board with the new ads. After all, there are plenty of people behind the NHL. In any case, with the Stanley Cup Playoffs so close at hand, I'm sure we'll see the hockey community slanting one way or the other sooner rather than later.

Which way will the tides turn? You be the judge. Check out the NHL Greenlife promo for yourself!

(1) Drew says:

I have played hockey for 13 years and it is good to see the NHL doing something like this. The NHL has tried changing parts of the game over the past few years to make it more interesting for people to watch and now they are getting more involved with our communities. You see the NFL work with the United Ways and the NBA has their NBA Cares campaign with the Boys and Girls Club and Habitat for Humanities.

Good for the NHL!!

I didn’t realize that the whole green thing was so wide spread in sports. My boyfriend watches hockey, so I’ve heard of Greenlife, but that’s about it.
