A Greener Vacuum that Sucks (in a Good Way)

Ever heard of Electrolux? Me neither.
Fortunately, thanks to the Electrolux USA handy dandy Dealer Locator (not notebook), I discovered that there were three dealer locations within 70 miles of my tiny little town of ten thousand: a Sears, a Lowe’s, and an Ace Hardware Store. Go figure.
As un-renowned as Electrolux USA might be, they have a new product that makes their brand one worth knowing. Read: the Ultrasilencer Green Vacuum Cleaner. Sounds neat, doesn’t it?
Well, this new vacuum does more for the environment than cut noise pollution. Namely, it’s made from 55% recycled materials, including reformed plastics found in the average car. Just think of it as your car’s second chance at life.
What’s more is the design process saves 2 liters of crude oil and 80 liters of water for every Ultrasilencer Green produced. Nice.
And Electrolux certainly does seem to be stuck on designing for a greener future: concept designs include a kitchen sink dishwasher and fog shower. Sounds a little Back to the Future-esque to me; but hey, we were supposed to have flying cars by now, right?

Comments
It’s interesting that Electrolux is going green–for years they were known as the big suburban SUV of vacuum cleaners (famous for being sold door-to-door by legions of notoriously push salespeople).
It’s actually a more famous brand than you think, but hasn’t really been competitive for the last few years.
I’ve never even hear of Electrolux USA but at least they are trying to help out with the whole green movement.
Electrolux is a lot more widespread than you might think. As far as I know, they actually are a larger corporation involved in brand names like Frigidaire. (I just noticed the Electrolux tag on the inside of my Frigidaire microwave.) If they really do make company wide change to go greener, it might make a big difference with time.
