Eco-friendly Disposable Diapers? Rubbish!

Wednesday December 19, 2007

It’s easy to start repeating eco-friendly mantras when you’re living a greener lifestyle. Really, the stuff all of us ‘greenies’ continue to profess usually falls under one of these categories: save water, save energy, limit waste. Am I right?

Well, sometimes (or maybe even most of the time) it seems like you have to give up a lot of conveniences to do your part for the environment. While that’s true, there are definitely some green innovations that weren’t readily available yesteryear.

So what is the point of my long, drawn-out blog intro? Some frivolous web surfing has led me to one of said innovations. Prepare to be amazed.

I can’t really recommend this product until I give it a try for myself, but the concept is enough to make me jump for joy. I’ve got two words for you: disposable diapers.

I know, I know. Disposable diapers are the opposite of green; they’re red even. That is, unless you can find eco-friendly, 100% bio-degradable disposable diapers. And I have.

These green-dream diapers are by the Moltex brand and contain only 20% of the normal amount of absorption gel while also being biodegradable. Granted they come from the U.K., but that’s no surprise. That tiny island country has been ahead of the U.S. in terms of greening for awhile now.

Try these puppies out if you dare. I’d love to hear what you think.

I’ve personally tried the Moltex Oko nappies from Germany on my 11-month old son and I’m just amazed. They work just like a regular disposable in terms of absorption, but does not contain all the chemicals that they use. I love them! In fact, we will soon be carrying the Moltex diapers exclusively on our site, www.shoptootles.com.
